~Three interesting Artist:

Kimia Kline
 Kate, Oil on paper, 2010, 48" x 36"

"Questions such as sight, speech, power, gender construction, and symbolism drive the investigation behind my paintings. The aim of each iteration of her work is to reveal the hegemony of a Euro-centric ideal of feminine beauty and its ramifications on our collective consciousness as a global society."-Kimia Kline

What drew me to Kline's work was her use of bright and natural colors in her paintings to create highlights and contrasting colors. The disproportions of stretching the body or shortening it adds to the beauty of her figures. The smooth blends of brush strokes and blocks of color capture the movement and emotion of the model/moment.

 Zachari Logan
Leshy, Pastel on black paper, 2013, 110.50" x 50"

"Contemporary Canadian Artist Zachari Logan, works mainly in large-scale drawings and installation practices, exploring introspective ideas about masculine representation and self awareness. As catalyst, Logan
combines images of his own body along with elements of flora and fauna, in the creation of personal narratives. Engaging both epic-scale and stylistic-historic techniques, Logan's drawings evolve a visual language which speaks to the metaphoric as well as the metaphysical."
Zachari Logan

The detail and scale of Logan's work is what drew me in. His attention to detail is amazing, the image has so much going on that you will find something new or interesting throughout the piece.

 Camille Rose Garcia
Uranium 238 Comes To Town, 2003, Acrylic and glitter on wood, 24" x 36"

Operation Opticon or Operation Optical-Control is a series that addresses the "War Machine and all its evil agendas." This series of paintings and drawings were addressing the Iraq war and the Patriot Act. Garcia's story behind this series was that a company sells toys with surveillance equipment in the product. The toys where created by a military that is set to gather information on a grand scale. As the products got popular the people in charge gained a large profit and kept the masses at bay with a false sense of security. As demand for the military's product grew so did factories and the destruction of the forest. The military had full control over the masses until they are met with resistance.
-The Saddest Place on Earth: The Art of Camille Rose Garcia

Camille Rose Garcia is one of my favorite artist because of her unique style, use of material, color, and for her story telling. I choose this particular painting because of the narrative behind the piece of how the search for power can lead to the pollution and injury of nature, animals, and people. The sickly yellow is beautiful and makes the viewer fell alert and nervous. What always captures my attention is the cartoonish style and pop art style that looks like it came from the 1930's.
